What if the config needs to tell you where and how to access the data? :-)

I like the concept of storing app config in a database. It separates the config from the code, and allows deployment of the same binary to unit test, system test, qa, etc., with a configuration appropriate for the environment.

Thanks for the feedback.
My real interest is to potentially use SQLite with .Net as a lightweight alternative to deploying SQL Server or some other server database when an application does not have a ton of settings or database needs.
MS Access databases or my own XML files can also be used, but I would rather stay with something a little lighter.
In an ASP.Net web application, the Web.Config is a nice place to get the app started, but I like the idea of storing all the relevant settings in a database.
Any downsides other than not running on i :-)

It was. Now Derby or Java DB depending upon implementation. It's built into WAS CE.
