Instead of pulling all the data at once I would suggest a series of Ajax calls. So when someone chooses Ford from the first drop down you issue a request to the database for all Ford models. If they choose another manufacturer then go get those and replace the ones that were there with the new ones. This is a very easy and straight forward approach to take and execute.

Hi Mike,
Does ASP/.net provide a reusable component to handle this "parent/child" drop down list challenge or do you have to code for each occurance? This "parent/child" pattern is common in a lot of business apps we run into. (IE Select a car mfg such as Ford or GM, then based on the parent, show the models (F150, Explorer)
