Re: Sitepoint Books

Well since I'm busily learning this stuff myself Thomas there is not
yet a specific one that I refer to. I've actually been taking the
Sitepoint Javascript class partly to cement my understanding of
Javascript and partly to study the teaching methods used. Originally
done live it is available for $9.95 as a series of recorded classes
with a forum for questions to back up the materials. You'll find it

impressed.

They are about to start (July 5th) a CSS class in similar style

at the same price.

I tend to prefer books personally and the Sitepoint ones I currently
use are "The Principals of Beautiful Web Design" and "Build your own
Web Site the right way" - neither of which have yet resulted in me
finding the time to beautify my own site - but I live in hope and it
is certainly no fault of the books which are excellent. I also have
the free chapter from "Sexy Web Design" and intend to buy that when it
comes up on sale. Of the ones still in the "Cup" running the only one
that interests me is "Simply Javascript" so I'm hoping Holland beat
Uruguay so the price will drop below the curent $9.95 (yes - I'm a
cheapskate!)

All I can say is that I have several Javascript, HTML and CSS books
around the office - most of which cost a whole bunch more that the
Sitepoint ones cost even when they are full price. None have proven to
be as useful or practical as the Sitepont ones - to me they have
redefined the standard in usable, useful technical books. Read a few
of the reviews on the site and you'll see I'm not the only one who
feels like this.
