What type of connection did you set up? SSH? Mapped drive? Here's a thread that may help...

Are you using WDSC or Zend Studio?

Regardless of your answer, I don't think you can get rid of the
workspace. It's a fundamental part of the software. I think your problem

is the 'connection' not the workspace.
