Hi Aaron,
powerEXT Core is just the basic API in powerEXT Application
Framework.
The Core is in one way an API that isolates the CGIDEV2
subprocedures needed for making Web 2.0 RIA's and in the same
time extends many of the subprocedues into needed and more
efficient functionallity.
This is not done because I try to take over CGIDEV2, but CGIDEV2
hasn't had a major makeover in the last at least 5 years while the
world has moved on like a runaway freighttrain, powerEXT Core is
just a makeover.
There is a number of very fine other tools to create both XML and
JSON out there, but no one of them addresses all basic areas of
building RIA's or has generic methods for both building XML and
JSON and no one has an advanced Application Framework sitting on
top of it and in the same times integrates, combines and enhance
the worlds two most popular Open Source iSeries projects (CGIDEV2
and HTTPAPI) at the same time.
Therefore the Core is MIT licensed while powerEXT AF still is
dual licensed.
Regards
Henrik

Re: [WEB400] powerEXT Core now released and forum opened for support
What is the difference between PowerExt Core and PowerExt Application
Framework? I see one uses GPL v3 and the other MIT.
Also, is it still a dual license? (i.e. open source and commercial?) I
wasn't able to easily find the user manual. Could you put that someplace
on
the download page?
