The preference for convention over configuration has started to work its
way into many other languages and platforms, including some of the recent
Java specifications. JSF 2 and EJB 3 embraced this philosophy and are far
more productive as a result.
So true. In many ways RoR made other frameworks
look embarrassingly complex. Apache's Tapestry was another that was heading
in the direction of RoR and was an answer to JSF's complexity/inflexibility.
Great, now I am starting to get the itch to hop back into these frameworks
again :-) There are MANY bright minds building these frameworks and thus a
ton to learn about the different ways things can be approached.
