I saw Jon Paris using Kompozer at the RPG & DB2 Summit. Right now I'm starting to learn PHP from a book from SitePoint and am using NetBeans - I think it is text only. Now the green-haired-kid in our office says he just writes HTML in text, then runs it to see what happens. Actually I do too - seems to work well enough. With Firebug you can try anything changes and make the final mods back in your text editor.
