Joe,I saw David Gearys presentation of JSF 2 with Ajax (ooh!) Monday and it seemed to be a much nicer experience than the JSF 1 on JSP's which I've built a product with. For those interested in seeing what JSF can do these days, he suggested looking at his three part series on Developerworks.
In an ideal world I would use JSF/Facelets (or Wicket maybe) on top of JPA
