The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

Mike, that still wasn't a 100% guarantee was it?
If a stored procedure is out of the question (which is the way I would
go) then I'd be tempted to either use a temporary file named for the
session or a data queue.
