I'll revisit this sometime - need to get this site converted
first - I do like loading just the div, for efficiency

Unless you've got a very low-bandwidth setup I wouldn't worry about the
efficiency. If the transition is between two very related pieces the
ajax load is very nice. If it's between two logically different pages,
I'd reload the complete page and avoid the problems you're mentioning.

Oh, and classic ASP? yuck!
