Here's what I am trying to do. I want to use GWT (Google Web Toolkit) to develop applications. It seems to me to be well established, backed by a winning team, and very flexible. It seems ideal for a programmer who is learning Java. I want to use it with AS400 applications.and data files. In my opinion it would be nice if I could download and apply a Tomcat server to the AS/400 and have the application and the data all on the same box.
I have legitimate access to a V5R4 machine that is on the Internet. It looks to me like it is easy to do; at least, thats the way I read the instructions. But I can't make it happen. Obviously I need more basic instructions.

Is my plan flawed? Fraught with danger? Idiotic? Are there simple yet complete instructions that someone can point me to that I can handle?
