That's a perfectly valid question. According to my admins, they
installed both ZendCore and MySQL. Not that I want to connect to a
local MySQL instance. I want to connect to one on another system on
my data center. But if it needs to be installed locally for the
extensions to work, then so be it.

We are running version 2.5.1 of ZendCore.

Deleting libmysqlclient.a as you recommended appears to have worked.
Thanks so much!

I am not trying to be a goof.  But have you loaded MySQL to the i5?  I
would assume yes since you are asking the question, but it is worth
mentioning.

It looks good on my machine, but I typically install the default version
of MySQL that comes with Zend Core.  Did you select that option?

What version of Core?  Is this an upgrade?  There is a point in the
release notes of 2.5.1 that discusses this.  Newer versions should not
have an issue.  You can submit a support ticket to MySQL or Zend if you
need help.

Here are the notes from 2.5.1:
MySQL extension is not working after updating Zend Core with 2.5.1, the
libmysqlclient.a file should be removed from /usr/local/Zend/core/lib.
Note: The new MySql client libmysqlclient.a file is placed in the
following directory /usr/local/Zend/core/lib/mysql

Subject: [WEB400] mysql and mysqli extensions not loading

I'm starting to experiment with PHP on one of our systems, and the
mysql and mysqli extensions are showing in the Zend Configuration GUI
as not loaded.  They are not disabled, and looking at php.ini, I see
that they are not commented out.  Anything else I should check?

Thanks in advance,
Mike E.
