This sounds like a good way to get what I need without the extra code. I
don't like the other idea posted because, Something that was checked may
get unchecked and nothing is actually changed. comparing to init and value
will let me see if when all is done something is different.

I have list of checkboxes where codes are selected. I am trying to
compare those to a copied set in a non-displayed DIV.
Your code might be a little cleaner if you compare "value" attributes to
"init" attributes of each input element, using the element.getAttribute()
method. See the source of the link above.
