DB2 vs. MySQL I'd go DB2. Why? Because if you don't why are you using
the i at all, it makes a really expensive Linux box. Don't talk to be
about TCO and integration when you're running PHP and MySQL, you might
as well be on a Linux box.
Now, I think the better question is, would you use the classic
db-neutral database APIs or use the i-specific APIs. In that case to me
it's a no brainer, use the db-neutral ones! Why do you want to go down a
route where you're doing your best to say you're using PHP, and then
change it to be specific enough for the i that it's not PHP any longer?
I think the i-specific db APIs are crazy. Learn the same PHP as the rest
of the world and be happy.
