We have plans to buy a new 520 running V5R4M5 - the earliest possible

be possible to compile/save back to V5R2M0 if we run on a V5R4M5 os400?

This is not a web-related question so should be asked on the Midrange- L list.

There is NO version of the OS at 545. There is a version of LIC at 545 for the new hardware. You will be running 540 of the OS on top of 545 LIC. You can always compile back N-2 releases so, yes, 540 will let you compile and save back to 520 on your new system.
