Good News Everybody!

A new search engine is coming soon.

As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

You don't want to do this through WebSphere. You want to do this through the HTTP server. The easiest way to do this is to create a directory in the document root directory and put your files in it. By default, the document root directory is /www/instance_name/htdocs. You can also create a directory outside of the document root if you want. http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/urlmapping.html explains how to configure the server to do this. There are likely exmples of doing this in the list archives as well.

Subject: [WEB400] Creating Virtual Directory - Websphere

Hi,

I really didn't want to post about this. But after searching around I'm at a loss.

Let me try to explain my requirement with an example.

Created a Virtual directory on IIS server & Copy .PDF, .DOC, or .XLS file into physical location of above Virtual directory, then can be Opened that files like this:

http://ip_address/VirualDIR/name.pdf

I need to implement same simple scenario on Websphere running on i5, but honestly, I know only access the administrative snapping through http://server:2001/

My requirement is allow users to access the files through web browser stored in IFS.

Any tips to help me along would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Manjula
