You don't want to do this through WebSphere. You want to do this through the HTTP server. The easiest way to do this is to create a directory in the document root directory and put your files in it. By default, the document root directory is /www/instance_name/htdocs. You can also create a directory outside of the document root if you want.
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/urlmapping.html explains how to configure the server to do this. There are likely exmples of doing this in the list archives as well.

I really didn't want to post about this. But after searching around I'm at a loss.
Let me try to explain my requirement with an example.
Created a Virtual directory on IIS server & Copy .PDF, .DOC, or .XLS file into physical location of above Virtual directory, then can be Opened that files like this:
http://ip_address/VirualDIR/name.pdf
I need to implement same simple scenario on Websphere running on i5, but honestly, I know only access the administrative snapping through
http://server:2001/
My requirement is allow users to access the files through web browser stored in IFS.
Any tips to help me along would be much appreciated.
