Actually, yes. MyEclipseIDE earlier this year announced a competitor to
RAD/RDi with it's MyEclipseIDE Blue edition. Check it out here:

Note I have zero experience with MyEclipeIDE Blue so I don't know how much
better (or worse) it is than what one would get with RAD.

Aaron, if you were not running Tomcat and were running WAS instead is using MyEclipseIDE still a viable option to move off of WDSC and not go to RDi/RDA?

If your intention is to eventually use EGL (which uses JSF under the
covers) then I would agree that RDi is the place to be. But if you are
looking to have a more vendor agnostic solution for JSF that works quite
well with Tomcat (free) then you can't beat MyEclipseIDE.com
($35/yr/developer). The reason why I say this is because development is
just plain faster when WAS isn't involved. The other nice thing I have
enjoyed with MyEclipseIDE is their support community which can give you
instant access to support via forum - IBM is quite a few years behind in
this arena and is just making first efforts with their EGL/RPG Cafe.

I am currently working through the tutorial for "Display dynamic
information on Web pages with JavaServer Faces" using RDi version
7.1.0.
One of the prerequisites for this tutorial is that Websphere
Application Server be installed. When I attempt to install this server
using
the following menu path:
Window | Preferences | Server | Installed Runtime
Websphere Application Server v6.1 appears as an option to add. When
selecting the Add button, followed by IBM and IBM WebSphere v6.0 the
following
error appears in the next window: "Missing classpath entry
\your_server_root\was-6.0\properties". Additionally the prompts for
the following appear:
Prompt "JRE:" with a pick list containing "Default JRE" and "jdk"
Prompt "IBM WebSphere Installation Directory" followed by the editable
prompt for "/your_server_root/was-6.0" followed by a browse.
The Question mark on the renders no help screen.
This begs a whole host of questions (no pun intended), but I'll begin
with just the first two.
What is the classpath name, and what should the value be if I am
running the client and server on the same PC?
Where is the Websphere Installation directory?
