EGL may have its merits, but I still have a feeling it won't make it
into too much mainstream development because .Net, Java/JSP and PHP seem
to have taken a good hold and they can all talk to DB2 and existing
programs.
I could be wrong in my prediction, but let's have this discussion in a
year or so and see how much traction EGL has gotten and who's developing
with it.
Flash forward to 2010....
"Hey, Joe are you still using EGL ? Nah, I moved on to .Net after
working with EGL for the past year. IBM came out with a new
Chocolate/Vanilla/Heathbar Crunch that didn't have any variable
capability or database access, but it sure tasted good." :-)
