The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
We are in the process of re-designing our site. All reporting is being
done in Jasper. Front-end is in PHP with some middleware in Java servlets.
Only part that will be on the i5 at this point is the data. PHP is doing
web service calls to the JasperServer to create the report which is then
streamed back to the browser.
We started out with Pentaho, but they failed to deliver. I did not have a
good experience with them so stay far far away.
Jasper seems to have a real good product. Pete Helgren has written the RPG
Report Engine as an RPG wrapper around the Jasper Reports API's that
simplify the running of the reports from an RPG program. Just so you know I
stoled that part from his readme. I have yet to implement it, but it looks
very promising. Imagine being able to design the report ONCE and by
passing it a change in parameter have it come out in your choice of Html,
PDF, Excel, Csv, or....

See the BIRT project at www.eclipse.org. Google "jasper reports" too.
I know those exist. I would like to hear opionions about them from
practical use. Reports from the trenches and such.
