Most web applications don't have a "done"
concept; the closest you get is the end of a transaction where they
print the page, or a "Home" button.
Very true. But remember, most web "applications" that you see on the net
(ie, the "public" ones) are designed for the occasional user, and need
to function like all other web apps so the user knows how to use them.
I know there are many internal web (we call them "browser-based")
applications that are more complex, and are used by users that can be
trained (as much as any user can be :) to use them in the right way.
These internal applications can be much more complex, and are more akin
to the applications we've been writing for years on the i.
