I'd downloaded the latest PTF group for HTTP that was available from
fixcentral on the 29th or 30th. It was only level 9 but I'm pretty sure
we're not doing anything with IASPs. The problem still persists and IBM is
looking through traces and joblogs and while they see examples of the
failure they so far don't have any suggestions on resolving it.

What gets me is that while certain requests seem like good ways to trigger
the thread exceptions, there isn't a direct cause and effect since they're
also successfully processed a similar amount of times. I do believe whatever
the issue is it was introduced after we went to V5R4. A month earlier we'd
cumed up on V5R3 (we were a year behind) and we ran without problems.

2007/10/29, Alfredo Delgado <adelgado@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>:

Good morning, gentlemen.

Over the weekend we upgraded from V5R3 to V5R4 and since then our
production
Apache instance has been periodically shutting itself off.

I looked in the error log and I saw this:

[Mon Oct 29 10:23:01 2007] [notice] ZSRV_MSG0372: QHTTPSVR/QZSRHTTP:
Thread
Exception occurred: RE : t.
[Mon Oct 29 10:31:13 2007] [notice] ZSRV_MSG0372: QHTTPSVR/QZSRHTTP:
Thread
Exception occurred: : t.
[Mon Oct 29 10:31:16 2007] [notice] ZSRV_MSG0387: SIGTERM received.
Shutting
down.

When I googled for the error I was lead to this post by Brad Stone:
http://archive.midrange.com/web400/200404/msg00028.html

That post is about V5R2 so I'm surprised it's still an issue. I was
wondering if Brad or anyone else ever followed up with IBM and what, if
any,
solution was provided.

Thanks,
Alfred
