new to websphere express 6.1

Is there a documented shortcut to installing Websphere Express 6.1
My goal is a proof of concept of the WDHT product for a client (their choice).
Hopefully something that is NOT thousands of pages. 
Have a Step by Step book from MC Press (796 pages) that relates to 6.0
Took an online course to install 6.0 and many things have changed (for a 
beginner to Websphere this is very confusing). Installer has broken links to 
the Info Center....
Have a feeling i will be scratching this & starting over soon.
