*** Cross posting to WEB400 & PCTECH

I am getting some weird behavior from PDFs. I have a number of PDFs in the
IFS. They are linked to web pages (actually an e-mail) and seem to work
fine in that form. But if the e-mail is saved as an HTML file, then while
the link to the PDF "works" (i.e. does not give an error) the browser screen
remains blank. If I take the exact same URL and use it in the open dialog
of Acrobat, the file opens perfectly.

I'm not 100% sure I follow what you are saying ... do you mean that, if
the HTML is displayed in with an email program, and someone clicks on a
link, the PDF will display properly ... but if you save the HTML of the
message to a stand alone HTML file, and display it in a web browser, the
browser launches but it displays nothing?

If this is the case, I would guess that the link in the HTML is not
properly formatted ... but the email program is parsing the link and
transforming it into a proper link. When you save the HTML to a file
and display it in a browser, it's being interpreted literally, and the
file isn't being displayed.

fwiw: This message discussion would probably be more appropriate in the
PCTECH list, so I'm cross-posting my reply.
