I think the problem is that XMLHttp is not a real thing.
The correct name is XMLHttpRequest, even Microsoft is implementing it under this
name in the IE 7.0 release. Previously MS used the ActiveX objects
"Msxml2.XMLHTTP" and "Microsoft.XMLHTTP" as the object identification scheme,
but the "real" implementation is known as XMLHttpRequest.
Perhaps some confusion comes about because many examples use variable names such
as "XmlHttp" or "req" or "request" or similar. But these are just, effectively,
field names.
Subtle issue? Yes, but nonetheless...
