Wide range of spots you can read up, check CodeProject.com,
gotdotnet.com, 4guysfromrolla.com, and
www.microsoft.com/resources/practices/default.mspx would be a start.
Plus, of course, here and google.

Also, check the article on 4Guys about the dataset vs. datareader
vis-a-vie performance.
