Hi Bob,

A shot in the dark, but perhaps convert the 32-byte string into character
from Hex (is it hex text or truly random text?) the convert it from ASCII to
EBCDIC and then convert it back to hex and try it again.

The data isn't hex (it contains letters other than A-F) but it's probably base64. Perhaps I need to decode the base64 before trying to use it... I'll give that a try.
