Thanks for that, although unfortunately this client is still using classic
HTTP. We're trying to get them to bite the bullet on the Apache migration,

You might try ab (http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/programs/ab.html) for
a rather simple benchmark or JMeter
(http://jakarta.apache.org/jmeter/index.html) for more advanced testing.
