Joe's solution of assigning IDs at runtime is interesting though. However, in versions of IE earlier than 5.0 the ID was read-only. >I don't begin to understand why that which works >in IE doesn't work in NS as both the above seem >to be supported by both browsers Because, shocking as it may seem <G>, IE isn't following the standards -- or more accurately, IE is going beyond the standard. The standard for getElementById says it will look for elements with the ID supplied. However, ID looks for elements with either the ID or NAME supplied. Since you have NAME not ID you need to use getElementsByName to work in both browsers. -Walden ------------ Walden H Leverich III President & CEO Tech Software (516) 627-3800 x11 WaldenL@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx http://www.TechSoftInc.com Quiquid latine dictum sit altum viditur. So in your earlier post, you are suggesting changing getElementById to getElementByName ?? I don't begin to understand why that which works in IE doesn't work in NS as both the above seem to be supported by both browsers, but, if, with help I can fix it, that 's what matters!
