You may want to take a look at my GETURI application. It was written specifically for what you ask. You can download it from www.bvstools.com/geturi.html. After that, simply email me and I'll provide a key that you can use to test it with full functionality. See www.bvstools.com/contact.html for contact information. As for the technical details, GETURI can be used to send a GET, HEAD or POST request either over HTTP or HTTPS (SSL). It also can handle Basic Authentication, cookies, user defined HTTP headers (such as those used with SOAP or other XML variations). It allows you to send the request string (query string or standard input variables) either in the command, or you can also specify a stream file where the request resides. This second option is good for large dynamic requests (such as XML documents). You can then view the response on the screen, or save the response to a Physical file or Stream file. GETURI can be run either from an IBM-like command, or using the GETURI API from a program. Again, feel free to contact me with any questions or help testing the command.
