We did portal impelemtation 
www.jarirportal.com/wps/portal
it is basically a B2B & employee portal using sametime and Quick Places.
We used WebSphere portal version 4.2 now portal 5.0 is available and it
very good now.

It's a employee based portal..

Basically there are portal servers from all the big vendors and also the
focus is on content management (eg vignette) 
Based on ibm perspective you can check the portal offering in websphere
zone

Portals have been deemed inappropriate for the MIDRANGE-L list, so I'll
start the discussion here.

I'm not sure how many people here are looking into portals and portlets.
Personally, I think they're going to be a very important part of the
next generation of web-based UIs, and so I've been doing a lot of
preliminary work with them.  I've written a couple of articles at
MCMagOnline if anyone is interested.
