You could use their username and password to establish the connection to the
400 in OLE/DB. If the userid/password isn't correct the conntection won't
establish. Or, you could connect with a common userid/password and use the
setprofile api to "test" the userid/password combo.

I am creating a web application. All my users have a user profile in AS/400
server V4R5, and I need to validate UserIDs and Passwords that these users
enters in the web site, against the AS/400 server, just like if they were
logging in on the as/400.
I have 2 choices:
  - Use asp pages running over IIS 5.0 (Win 2k).
  - Use servlets running either Win2k or as/400

¿can anybody help me?
