Nathan, i thought already nobody has read it... ;-) There is no announcement yet, as far as i know. But i'm in the "friends of Apache"-newsletter, managed by Brian R. Smith. If you want to be a member, just mail him. You find below his mail from August, 28. I just visited the mentioned site and found that the mail is on the page, without the little note in "Log rollover" (look below). There's the "shortened" mail: http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/software/http/news/sitenews.html So maybe there slipped something outside that will come in V5R3, maybe not. But the short note in the mail expresses the very strong will to get rid of the Original server. Apache is the strategic web server and i welcome this decision. Although i'm only familiar with the Original, i'm really looking forward to Apache. best regards / Mit freundlichen Grüssen Anton Gombkötö Avenum Technologie GmbH http://www.avenum.com Brians mail: Team pbApache, Here is old 'news' to you all from the Rochester lab. Select pbApache Projects (BRSmith) in the left nav bar. And this might be new news: Coming Soon --Apache 2.0.39 with the above listed function (except FRCA) to V5R1 Have fun! Regards, Brian R Smith/Rochester/IBM@IBMUS Sr. Consulting I/T Specialist at ITSO Rochester Center, iSeries Certified e-mail: brsmith@us.ibm.com USA 1-507-253-5255, fax: x-6408, tie line: 553-5255; Cell: 1-507-291-0811 ----- Forwarded by Brian R Smith/Rochester/IBM on 08/29/2002 03:39 PM ----- IBM HTTP Server for iSeries Breaking News August 30, 2002 HTTP Server for iSeries Updated The IBM HTTP Server for iSeries has been enhanced with new function available via a Group PTF for V5R2. This new function includes the following enhancements: New, improved graphical user interface The latest and greatest in HTTP Serving.... Apache 2.0.39 from the Apache organization (www.apache.org) now integrated into your IBM HTTP Server (Powered by Apache) on iSeries! New, improved graphical user interface Significant enhancements have been made to improve usability and accessibility of the administration interface. Try http://system:2001/HTTPAdmin on your favorite iSeries with V5R2 and 5722DG1 installed (note replace 'system' with the name of your iSeries system in the URL). Fast Response Cache Accelerator (FRCA) File serving performance is accelerated with the FRCA caching mechanism. Files can now be cached below the OS/400 machine interface boundary. A performance power booster! Log rollover and archiving HTTP Servers (powered by Apache) can now be configured to have log files roll over into new files. The files can also be configured for maintenance, by age or by size. This is critical as we now claim 'equivalency' with the original HTTP server and will be announcing withdrawal of the original HTTP server in V5R3. TLS Upgrade TLS Upgrade allows applications to use only one port for both SSL and non-SSL traffic. This TLS encryption on an un-encrypted port is only supported for HTTP Servers (powered by Apache). Collection Services Performance information can now be collected in user defined categories by using Collection Services. Migration enhancements Enhancements to the migration wizard have been made making it much easier to move from original HTTP Servers to HTTP Servers (powered by Apache). More Info--->On August 30, see http://www.ibm.com/eserver/iseries/software/http for more information and PTF Group information on ordering the latest level of Apache. The site will not be updated until 8/30. Coming Soon --Apache 2.0.39 with the above listed function (except FRCA) to V5R1
