Not to be overly contrary, but the classic HTTP Server was definitely designed with commerce in mind. It's efficient, scalable, robust, reliable, and secure. The problem is not with the Web server. It's great for serving static pages, for example. However EVERY Web Server needs additional support for dynamic content, which is often satisfied by a Common Gateway or Servlet Interface. While the Servlet engines you mentioned are more scalable than CGI, scalable ILE alternatives are available too. Relational-Web is one of them. Nathan M. Andelin www.relational-data.com
