It really p*$$es me off when folks are in any way apologetic about the
AS/400 as a web server!

There are a LOT more websites powered by AS/400 than most folks know!  My
little company has done a bunch ( over 50 ) in the metro New York City area
ourselves ...

Here's two publicly visible AS/400-powered websites that show what the
AS/400 is capable of:
   - www.SongFile.com
   - www.ScoreBook.com

We did ScoreBook ourselves on a shoestring budget ... it applies data
processing concepts to a "fun" thing ... amateur sports & player statistics
(baseball, at this time) ... the dot-com that owns it looks like it will
turn a profit this year (from revenue generated by the sports statistics
packages that it sells).

MOST AS/400 WEB SITES ARE NOT PUBLICLY VISIBLE.  They are doing business to
business applications that are radically changing the way that our
customers do business! You can't see them unless you have a sign-on!!!

5 years ago, I said that "the server that runs the web site will run the
company" ... that is proving true today.  Being able to provide access to
corporate databases & extending applications out to vendors and customers
has huge payoffs.  It is 100 times better to do this directly on the AS/400
that has the data than to use some middleware to extract it.
