Can RPG call a Java program and have it return some data? I was hoping to
generate sets of data points in RPG CGI program, feed them to another
program to create the image, then output that image inline to the browser.
This would be similar to the GD library in *NIX. I guess I need to sign up
to the Java400 list, I have no Java experience.

Thanks,
Loyd

I've been playing around with the same thing from a slightly different
perspective. If you have access to Java, SDK1.4 has a bunch of new ImageIO
functionality. Used in conjunction with the Graphics2D classes I've been
able to create .JPGs from a sketch in a Java program. I have a seperate
program that draws sketches in the Java window based on AS/400 vector data.

Logic would suggest that you could follow a similar path and write a Java
Class that would receive/get AS/400 based data, create the associated
graphic, and then export it to a .JPG (or I think several other file types).

Might be worth exploring. I might be able to share some code snippets if it
would help...
