I guess I would do the usual: What subsystem is this job running? Can you determine which job queue that this job is running? Is it single stringed? Should it be? What other jobs is it stopping from running? Domino? If so, are you expecting return variables or could you submit the job to batch and not hang up the Domino job which calls it? Occasionally, these programs will get passed bad data, and and when that happens it hangs (typically, it's a decimal data error problem). We've found that when that happens no further jobs will run until we end the offending job. Obviously, one solution is to add some error checking so the job doesn't hang, but it's got us wondering -- why does one job hanging prevent others from running? Is there a way we can set things up so that this won't happen?
