Hi Steve,

this is an example of a RPGLE source from folders:

RemoteSystemsTempFile (right side):

000100260519**free
000200260519// ===================================================================
000300260519//
000400260519//  Kurzdokumentation :

i Project (left side):

**free
// ===================================================================
//
//  Kurzdokumentation :

And here the same of an XML file:

RemoteSystemsTempFile (right side):

000100260519<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
000200260519     <!-- Embedded DTD for validation -->
000300260519     <!DOCTYPE upload [
000400260519     <!ELEMENT compile (#PCDATA)>

i Project (left side):

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
     <!-- Embedded DTD for validation -->
     <!DOCTYPE upload [
     <!ELEMENT compile (#PCDATA)>

The compare editor shows line numbers for the remote XML member that was
downloaded to RemoteSystemsTempFile. It does not show line numbers for the
remote RPG member that was also downloaded to folder
RemoteSystemsTempFile.

So there must be something special with XML files.

Hi Thomas,

The Compare editor doesn't use type to determine if sequence and date
numbers are present.

It reads the first 4 lines of code trying to see if they start with
numbers and does so using UTF-8, unless the file has a specific encoding
set. The code hasn't been changed since 2003.

Could you send me a sample of the first 4 lines? Or is it possible the
file is shorter than 4 lines?

Thanks!

Hi,

Why does the compare editor, when launched from the Remote Reconciler
view, include line numbers and dates of remote members for "XML" source
members?

I cannot find any differences in the "Content Types" preferences if I
compare "XML" with "RPGLE" or any other typical IBM source member type.
"XML" is a child of "Text - Enterprise Source Types" and "Text - IBM i
Source File Members". That is the same as with e.g. "RPG".

I assume that "Text - IBM i Source File Members" is the key for telling
the compare editor to remove the line number and date columns.

Regards,

Thomas.
