Thanks for the reply.
It definitely has startup lag 😊
For my use case I'm trying to give dev users an option to open local files in their favorite editor and without ability to pass a file name, RDI isn't an option.
David, didn't you used to do some Eclipse plugin writing ? I wonder if there's something that could be done with a plugin.
Honestly it's not a big deal, but someone was asking about using RDI with my Work with IBMi utility.
Closest I came weas telling them to create a shortcut to the work file directory for actual editing of local files.
In case anyone is interested in trying it and providing feedback - currently Windows only and SSH connectivity:

Can I pass a local PC file name and have RDI open it directly the same way I can with other editors ?
Keep in mind that RDi uses Eclipse as it's framework, and it's a very heavy framework.
There are ways to open a file when launching eclipse (see
https://help.eclipse.org/latest/index.jsp?topic=%2Forg.eclipse.platform.doc.isv%2Fguide%2Fproduct_open_file.htm),
but I don't think that works well when eclipse is being used as an IDE, as it has a workspace associated with it.
Even if it were possible, launching eclipse and all it's plugin's is going to take quite a while just to edit a file.
