I've dropped the idea of wanting the plug-ins installed as part of the RDi
install, to prevent potential conflicts between plug-ins. Has anyone used
Software Center to install RDi plug-ins separately?

Has anyone done this? Our shop's admins are planning to get RDi 9.6 to
install from Software Center. (NOTE: We can't go to 9.8 yet because of
vendor plug-in compatibility.)

Does the following link's "silent install" work for installing from
Software Center?

https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/how-install-rational-developer-i-latest-level-multiple-developer-machines#SILENTINSTALL

Can the "silent install" also specify to *not* install RDi to the \Program
Files folder? I've been advised in the past to install RDi to another
folder off the root, e.g., C:\IBMRDi\.

Is it possible for the same install to also install plug-ins? If not, can
RDi plug-ins be installed from Software Center?
