I didn't find that to be the case...

typing the start of a PF column name in lower-case, ctrl-space, selecting a
column and what was inserted was all uppercase...

"Automatic Uppercasing" under Remote Systems LPEX Editor-->IBM i
Parsers-->ILE RPG is turned off.

That idea was a partial implementation, meaning we use the current
settings. If you type lower case, you will get lower case defaults,
provided you have the automatic upper case turned off.

Our QA department rejected the idea as shipping because they agreed with
the idea that we should expose the CaseHelper class to the user so there
can be no doubt as to what case Context Assist inserts.

We have a Jira issue to fully implement the request, but you should find
that the Content Assist insertions honor your case as you type.
