The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
Just to understand the circumstances:
- You are editing an RPGIV source member which contains a file
declaration (F-spec) for a Physical File
- The Outline view identifies the file, format name, field names and
attributes
- You would like to see the TEXT or COLHDG definitions of the fields
presented in the Outline view, along with the other attributes
As Vern has already suggested, I don't think this is possible.
Submitting an RFE is an option. However, this might make the Outline
view "cluttered".
Have you considered using the Field Table view?
Apologies if you're already familiar with this.
- Identify the File concerned, (either in the Remote Systems view or the
Object Table view)
- Right-click the File object and select SHOW IN TABLE > FIELDS
This will at least show you the TEXT or COLHDG details for each field -
BUT - only for Physical Files. (The Field Table view is not available
for Logical, Display or Printer Files.) It /would/ be nice to be able to
Right-Click on the file name within the source and have the SHOW IN
TABLE option on the context menu - for all file types. It would also be
nice to have COLHDG viewable /as well as/ TEXT. Perhaps an RFE is the
way to go!
Final Tip. If your file is defined with DDS and you have the DDS source
member open in the editor, you /will/ see the COLHDG and TEXT attributes
in the Outline view! (But we're all using SQL, right?)
HTH,
Brian.

I suggest you submit an RFE with this request. If it can be done, you
might hear an answer of how. If not, it will be looked at by IBM.

I would like to know, if there is the possibility to display in the
outline
section, beside each file fields the ColHdg or Text description ..
many time
the field's name is not enough to find the attribute that we are looking
for; i have installed iSphere hoping with that i could, but the outline
section is the same .. i'm wrong in something ?
Thanks in advance
