The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
There is a "workaround" that may help. Instead of using the Object List
view, use the Remote Systems view.
In the Remote Systems view, (the hierarchical navigation tree usually
located on the left of the IBM i perspective) create separate filters
which deliver the different lists of libraries, objects or members you
require.
In the context menu for each Filter, (right-click) select OPEN IN NEW
WINDOW. You will now have separate windows for each Filter; move and
resize as required to place them side-by-side to compare.
You could go one step further.
Within each of the above separate windows, you could populate the Object
List view as required using its own Filter mechanism. So you now have
different tables as well as different lists. Detach (hold left mouse
button down on tab and move) each of the Object List tables and
move/resize as required to compare side-by-side.
Another tip.
You /could/ produce a text file or print (PDF?) of the contents of each
Object List view and with a bit of manipulation compare the results,
(manually or using source compare tools.) The drop-down menu (down
arrow) in the Object List view provides PRINT and EXPORT TO FILE
options. (The latter is a little counter-intuitive. Use the BROWSE
button first, to define the location and name of the file to be created.
Also, ensure the SELECTED ENTRIES ONLY checkbox is blank, otherwise
you'll only see highlighted entries in the result - not the entire
filtered list.)
FINALLY - A note to Thomas re. iSphere
If you right-click on a filter within the Remote Systems view, the
context menu shows the following iSphere options:
- iSphere Message File Search
- iSphere Source File Search
- Save As
The SAVE AS option suggests the Filter List can be saved as text, HTML
or a PDF. (This would indeed be very useful!) However, at present the
SAVE AS option only works with Spooled Files - not the Filter List.
HTH,
Brian.

Hi,
is there a possibility to open two independent Object List views at the same time in RDi?
This would be a great feature to compare sources in 2 libraries.
Until now, I haven’t found anything?
Thanks and kind regards,
Daniel
