I thought RDi shipped with it's own JVM built in? When I'm running RDi it says that the JVM is,

C:\Program Files\IBM\SDP\jdk\jre\bin

I'm looking at that from the Windows task manager. Now if I run regular Eclipse for my Python development the JVM is coming from,

C:\Program Files\Amazon Corretto\jdk11.0.6_10\bin

so it looks like for RDi I'm using the one that IBM ships with RDi.

Jon,

From a command line (e.g. open a terminal window), type:

    java -version

and it should tell you what version is running as the default JVM.

Beats me Mark - whatever IBM ships or is loaded on the machine. How do I tell?

I seem to recall that many moons ago I had top download a "legacy" Java to make RDi work but may be dismembering.

Jon,

What JVM are you running it under?

Only a single instance Steve.

I am dealing with some deadlines today but will contact Armand as soon as I can.

P.S. Susan is running the same release and has a similar problem - just not quite as acute as mine.

Hi Jon,

Are you running two instances of RDi or Eclipse? IE 9.6.0.7 and 9.6.0.8 next to each other?

There is a defect in Eclipse that MAY cause the 2nd instance of Eclipse to spike the CPU on Mac while idle (even occurs with no editors opened).

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=245399

If you are NOT running a 2nd version and seeing the spike, please contact IBM support (or Armand) so we can take a peek.

Thanks!

If that is true for you Mike then I guess that is possible.  I've only got three plugins in play - Linima Toolbox, iSphere and pyDev all in widespread use and I've seen no error reports.

Anyway to determine that?

I do have a large number of errors/warnings in my logs - the guys have had a look at them to see if they relate to my disappearing/reappearing compile shortcut, but I've had no feedback

I'm running vanilla RDI on a Mac with no issues, could it be some

I'm running on a Mac so things may be different on Windows - but since
updating my copy of RDi to the latest fix pack I'm seeing the fan run
like crazy and RDi chewing up massive chunks of CPU even when it is
not even in focus let alone being used.

I had originally been thinking that Facebook was the problem as its
usage was also higher than it used to be (I had switched to the new
interface) but I had also updated RDi in the same timeframe.

I was just living with it until yesterday when I upgraded RDi to the
very latest and greatest.  Fan runs 24 x 7 now and high CPU usage by
RDi even when idle.

Decide to just quit RDi since I hadn't used it in 16 hours.
Immediately CPU usage dropped like a stone and the fans went off within seconds.

Am I the only one seeing this?  It started with the previous fix pack
but just went crazy with this latest PTF.

I am running MacBook Pro, 16Gb, latest Catalina on a 2.6 GHz 6-Core
Intel Core i7
