Hi Douglas,

We consider this type of flaw (false positive) a defect because our goal is to enable Quick Fix in the future to help you remove un-used variables. We can't if they are really used.

Please contact IBM Support and open a case so we can fix this behavior.

Thanks for helping make RDi better for everyone!

Subject: [WDSCI-L] An RDi bug?

I just encountered this, and was wondering if it is a bug or not:

I have an RPGIV program that uses an externally defined printer file. That printer file has a record defined as a few CHAR fields such as NUMBER, NAME, ADD1, ADD2, ADD3. The RPG program writes out to this record.

In the program, those fields are not defined as character fields, but as constants. In RDi, it tells me that those Constants are not referenced and has the lowercase blue "i" on the line. Even though those are not referenced in the program itself, they are used as fields in the printer file record. I am concerned that RDi is telling me these are not referenced, when they are referenced in the printer file.

Does anyone else see this?

I am using Version: 9.6.0.6

Thank you,
Douglas Englander
