Note, this question was posted to RPG400, and I'm posting my comment here
to WDSCI.

I have not attempted to install EGit in RDI, and someone who has may have a
better answer.
But here is how I would go about it.

First, determine which version of Eclipse RDI 9.5.1.2 is running.

For example, I'm running RDI 9.6.0.6.
The Eclipse Platform feature shows version: Version: 4.6.3.v20170301-0400
This can also be found by opening the ".eclipseproduct" file that can be
found in the root RDI folder. In my case its "SDP96".
This file shows "version=4.6.3"

This tells you the version of Eclipse that the plugin needs to work with.
A quick look on the egit website shows a "Where to find older releases"
link.
Which brings up a list of Eclipse p2 update sites.

The closest one to my version of eclipse would be 4.6.1
http://download.eclipse.org/egit/updates-4.6.1

RDI 9.5.1.2 was on an earlier version of Eclipse. Something between Eclipse
versions 4.4.2 and 4.6

Once you have identified the update site you would open RDI.
Then, to the Help menu and Install New Software. Then enter the update site
and select the plugins you desire.

Note that some Eclipse plugins require other Eclipse plugins which require
other Eclipse plugins....
So it can sometimes be a nightmare getting everything to line up and to be
fully functional.
But this would help you at least identify which version of Eclipse the
plugin needs to work on.

Subject: RDI 9.5.1.2/EGit

Hello everyone,

I would like to install the EGit plugin on my RDI version 9.5.1.2.
In the Eclipse marketplace, I can only see EGit version 5.4.0 which is not
compatible with my version 9.5.1.2 ...
Could someone tell me which version of EGit is compatible and how to
install it?

Thank you all,

Jean-Marc DUVAL
