I would like to use my mouse wheel for zooming in and out, as I do in 
several applications in Windows, like Chrome, Excel, Outlook, etc. Maybe 
there's a setting on the mouse, but I don't want to interfere with 
behavior that I already have.

As to reset, Ctrl-0 works in browsers, usually - I've not tried that, 
but if it doesn't work, we need an RFE for that.
