Hi Peter,

The behavior comes from the new Live Model Support (Robust Model) added in 9.6.0.0.

You can turn off the live parser setting, however doing so currently turns off many features that require live parser support (like Content Assist).

To turn off this behavior, use the menu Window and select Preferences. Once the preferences panel is displayed, select Remote Systems > Remote Systems LPEX Editor > IBM i Parsers > ILE RPG and then unselect the "Update the Outline view when text is changed in the editor".

With "Update the Outline view when text is changed in the editor" turned on you can quickly go to these settings by selecting the small downward pointing triangle on the outline and selecting preferences. On an RPGLE model, this will take you quickly to the ILE RPG preferences in a quick click on the Preferences from the drop down menu.

Signify Classified - Internal

On this subject I have a strange thing happening to me: I turned off automatic syntax checking because it would pop up small red circles with a white X in the left margin whenever I started typing something in source, and that seems to have stopped.

But when I start an if or other block statement, I get a big red X in the left margin with the tooltip 'Terminating parser error: "ENDIF" inserted to complete scope'.

For clarity: the X's in the left margin are not at all the same, so it looks like a different parser/validator is throwing this error.

Any idea where this comes from and how I can turn it off?

Thanks in advance.

Met vriendelijke groeten / Best regards,

Try having the errors shown as annotations instead of the pink lines. I find it much easier to ignore the wiggly underlines and the marks in the margins. When I think the statement is fine, it's easy to hover over the wiggly line or the mark in the margin and see what it's still complaining about.

Remote Systems > Remote Systems Lpex Editor > IBM i Parsers
- "Display syntax errors as annotations"
