Darn! Did not think of that. Because I have to continually, restart RDI to get it to work.

I will try that next time. But, I did manually rebuild the outline, and tried to recompile. And neither of those options cleared the "bogus" errors. So, I fell back on the "Old-Restart-to-get-it-to-work".

Does closing and reopening the member clear the errors also? Seems a little quicker of an option.

Matt,

You are correct! I notice some other Red-X in my code...

I have the same sort of error on this parameter for a sub procedure:

trk_nbr char(10) const;

Earlier, I had did a typo, and "forgot" the ending ")", so originally I had this:

Trk_nbr char(10 const; // typo error...

I did a refresh of the outline, and my error annotations DID NOT GO AWAY!

So, I now believe that the syntax and/or parser is NOT refreshing to clear out old errors. That is my guess...

Oh well, time to restart RDI again, to clear out simple errors. I should have known that... Restart it continually, to clear errors. I expect too much as usual. <My bad>

PS. Restart did clear the errors! Wow! Restart fixes RDI almost EVERYTIME! When in doubt, restart it!!!
Great Time Saver!!! <sarcasm>

Hmmmm. I'm on 9.6.0.4 and I pasted the code you have into a new .RPGLE member and there are no parser errors. There must something above it or below not shown.

Hi,

Using RDI 9.6.0.4, thinks I am using an Old Punch Card Machine, this is marked as invalid by the parser:

**free
ctl-opt NoMain Debug( *Yes ) option( *SrcStmt : *NoDebugIO : *SecLvl) // C004
BndDir( 'RUTESTCASE' : 'MCCMMN_BD' : 'MCDTOI_BD' : 'UTCMMN_BD' : 'TCSERVICEB' ) // C004

;

I get the RED "X" with the Error Message:
Terminating Parsing Error "(" expected instead of this input

I guess LPEX thinks I am using a punch-card machine from Last Century! <LOL>

Yup, the code compiles file, but yet I still get a parsing error.

Oh well, at least it does not lock up my editor! <Joy Joy>

I guess the Parser does not understand 100% Free-Format code. It must be used to punch-card format! <ROTFLO>

PS. Too bad the parser cannot be in-synch with the compiler... <smirk>
