Yes, I toggled it, pressed refresh the outline, look and still can't see the field. I toggled it again, pressed the refresh, and still not there.

The field is actually used in my program, all over the place.

Are you "Hiding Unreferenced Definitions"?
In the outline view at the upper right there is an icon for toggling display of all fields or only referenced fields.
This may be your issue.

I have installed 9.6.0.2 and I find that I don't see all my fields anymore. The fields I can't see are defined in my dds screen. Many of the record formats in the dds are Ignore , however the record format where my field is defined is an include. Not sure if that is the reason.

The program compiles fine. Any idea ?
