Brian,
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSAE4W_9.6.0/com.ibm.etools.iseries.rse.doc/topics/tworkcmplcmds.html
That link might help a little bit. Scroll down to the section: View results. If the command runs successfully, a message will be displayed in the Commands Log view.
When creating a serice program, and my binding fails, and I have no syntax errors. I check that view: "Command Log". Which is very helpful. I can also use up/down arrows to pull up my previous compiles and/or commands that I entered.
Pretty awesome! :)

Brian,
window>show view>other...
IBM i>Command Log
That is sort like the normal job-log.

Subject: [WDSCI-L] Commands Explorer view
What is the Commands Explorer view?
IBM Rational Developer for i Version: 9.6.0.1.
I see it in the open view dialog in the "command line interface" section.
The description is "Create and explore custom commands that are usable in the product".
The view doesn't seem to have any help text associated with it.
